Tartoc nods I would. "Essentially I need to know if we toppled the Empire and the Sith tomorrow, and worked to make the Rebel dream of a True Democracy a
reality, what would the Blue Stars due then? While I know that you have a code of honor, piracy is to some extent still piracy what would the Blue Stars due if
there was no longer a reason to take from others?" Tartoc said this carefully he made sure to make this not sound like a attack. He was very curious about
the man's response and what it would reaveal about this secretive sect.
A signature smirk crept across Jay's face like a hunting gundark stalking its next meal.
"I'm a practical man Admiral. I don't usually deal in what if's."
The pirate scratched his chin for a moment, a cloudy look of comprehension dawning in his eyes. Then, alert once more,
he snapped his gaze back at the Rebel leader.
"If you truly managed to eliminate the Imperial and Sith threat then we would concentrate our efforts on the
Corporates, and those within your sphere who were as corrupt as they are. Let's talk truth though: There'll always be someone to fight the good fight
against. In a strange way we pirates thrive on those we detest. Remove them completely and we cease to be needed."
It was a plain enough answer to such a broad question, but Mertaal hadn't finished entirely.
"What you mean to ask though, really, is would we turn on you? In other words, do we love piracy more than we
love the idea of a galaxy free of darkness?".
Tartoc listened carefully a number of thoughts rolling though his mind. Tartoc raised his hand "No, you've told me exactly what I needed to hear.
Given the right situation I'm sure the Pirates could turn against the Rebels for all the right reasons." This statement struck him like a blow and he
quickly continued. "I would like a change of course please." taking out a datacard he types in a set of coordinates. "To here, if that is
acceptable."
"I look forward to the day when the last
Emperor is strangled with the entrails of the last Sith."
Admiral James Tartoc A.K.A. Dragon
Jay glanced over the co-ordinates and punched them in without asking him where they were going. Trust needed to be
established, and thusfar, Jay didn't mind being the one to show it. "Considering we didn't turn against the NR even after they attacked our biggest civilian base I think
it's fair to say our allegiances, moral allegiances anyway, are plain for all to see". Of course it wasn't the whole truth. Jay had ordered the deaths of the senators who had authorised the attack, and
been complicit in the overthrow of the NR regime of the puppet Senator Zeno in response to the attack on Nejdiv. But as his co-conspiritors were Mon-Mothma,
General Reikaan, Obi-Wan Skywalker and the like, the case for exactly who was overthrowing who wasn't a clear cut one.
Tartoc nodded, these pirates seemed honorable in their way, and in some ways their record was more untarnished than the New Republic this rebellion was born
out of. Soon they emerged from hyperspace above a world not on any starchart. "Speaking of which I have something for you. It was an atrocity what
happened there. This planet is Bulwark it served as a safeworld for the Rebellion in the first Galactic Civil War. I give it to you as a home for the refugees
of Nejdiv. I can understand if you are reluctant to accept it was the New Republic's knowledge of your safeworld that made it vulnerable. I merely wish to
help give all the refugees homes be they Ithorians, Tarisians, or Blue Star Pirates."
"I look forward to the day when the last
Emperor is strangled with the entrails of the last Sith."
Admiral James Tartoc A.K.A. Dragon
Jay smiled and gripped Tartoc's shoulder. "My people will very much appriciate this gesture Admiral. We've already settled most of the Nejdiv
survivors, so it's not necessary, but thank you anyway."
He did not bother to mention that there's no way the Blue Star Pirates would settle a planet given to them by
another power who, therefore, knew its location and existence. There was no point. They had made other arrangements in any case, but the offer went a way to
establishing a proper friendship between the two powers once again.
