Etti IV, Corporate Sector
Dex sat impatiently behind a thick black metallic desk drumming his fingers and shuffling a few data pads around on his desk. Behind him, a tall transparisteel window overlooked most of the large corporate builds throughout the city and thick streams of traffic littered the skies much like they did on Coruscant. In fact, Etti IV was one of the most heavily trafficked planets in the Galaxy due to the sheer number of business men and women, investors, and consumers that visited daily from throughout the galaxy. Something troubled him, and it wasn't the usual rise in interest rates or the inflation of loan yeilds. A loud buzz caused him to squeel like a dieing rancor jump out of his seat and dive head first under his desk. Only his trembling black dress shoes remained in plain view as a soft voice came from the comlink on the corner of his desk. Shuffles of datapads and papers fell like soft snowflakes on the ice plains of Hoth as the interruption continued.
"Excuse me Executive, Miss Naavi is here to see you."
After pausing for a moment to regain his composure, Dex smoothed the wrinkles out of his dark blue business suit and returned to his seat. He clenched his jaw and shuffled a few papers around on his desk before the hiss of the airlocked doors announced Selaenia's arrival. She strode through the door casually, her hair neatly tied behind her back in a civilian fashion. She wore a tight black business suit with a black skirt and matching black high heels. Around her neck, a small black pearl necklace accented her cleavage almost as if it were a border of small ships protecting her neckline from her imposing breasts. In her hands, she flicked a small object through her fingers, caressing it as if it were a small stress ball, only solid and unsphiracle. Taking a seat on the opposite side of the desk, Selaenia offered a handshake which the Executive Officer reluctantly took.
"You wanted to see me, Dex?"
"Yes," he started sternly. Selaenia leaned back in her chair and flicked the small object through her fingers once more. Her eyes seemed mystified by it, as if her full attention were directed on the small object in her hands rather than the words of the man sitting before her. "Over the course of the last three months, there have been four mysterious deaths throughout my offices; all of which are irrelevant and easily replaceable. However, whatever virus they seem to have contracted seems to be advancing at an alarming pace. Yesterday alone, over one third of our offices came down with the mysterious illness, and this morning I received word that five members of the Direx Board have been diagnosed with the mysterious ailment. As you know, you were appointed to your position as Auditor-General under the strict confidence that we would hold your vote in the Direx Board, and you would simply be a figure head to fill the void of an irrelevant position of authority."
Selaenia nodded her head and continued to flick the object through her fingers, unphased by the news.
"Are you paying attention?"
"Xavior Herod, of Chiewab Pharmaceuticals, Iri Talvarian of GalResource Industries, Sione Alverik of the Core Bank, Orel Louke, Rendili and Valles Sathe of Seinar.... Right?"
The Executive blinked for a minute and nodded his head. "Yes." Selaenia merely continued to finger the object in her hand as the Executive cleared his throat and continued.
"The Espos are certain that this is a full-scale outbreak. Possibly even a terrorist attack and that at it's current rate of infection and affliction, over half of the planet's population will be infected by the end of the month. The entire planet within two months."
Again, Selaenia nodded seemingly unphased. "I was put in this position as a puppet. I am a prisoner, remember Dex? What do you want me to do about it?"
Dex gritted his teeth and threw a datapad against the wall. As it shattered, his yelling echoed throughout his immense office. "I don't know, damn it! But figure it out!"
Selaenia nodded her head.
"Leave it to me, sir." A sly smile crossed her soft red lips as she stood, offered a nod of her head and excused herself.
He was right where she wanted him.
