For the first stage, I'd like everyone to see about getting themselves as far as the Velak system. Since I'm being encouraged to be nice to people, rather than following the traditional route of beheading them, sticking their heads on spikes, razing their homes and salting the earth, I suppose I can stretch to a small extension. Only so far as agriculture grows. You could still use it for other purposes that don't require the growth of plants. And it's generally more of a statement; 'you mess with me/us and I/we'll crush your little territory so badly that nothing'll ever grow there again'. Which means you won't just be hurting them, but every one of their descendants too.
