A bag of credits was tossed onto the desk. Aida sensed the man opposite her prod it with an expert finger, and then it disappeared about his person. At her
side, she felt her guards relax, although their tension surprised her. Talon Karrde was a man of honour, despite his reputation, and so she trusted his
messengers as well.
"We'll forward the information to your ship," the man said. Aida smiled and inclined her head gently. Talon was a man with valuable knowledge, and before she dragged the Alliance into a war she wanted to be as well-informed as possible. It could lead to new allies, or the fall of old ones; it could save lives. With this, she hoped to strengthen their position.
"Thank you, Aves." She rose, and Karrde's man rose with her, signalling the end of their meeting. "Please send my thanks, and my regards, to Talon and his crew." She'd only met Talon Karrde once, in a situation that hadn't allowed for much chatter. Then, she had been helping the Jensaarai escape from Susefvi. Now she and a small body of men were aboard the Wheel, blending in as best they could. It was a rather inconspicuous place for a meeting, after all. "And to Raine," she added in a lower tone, thinking fondly of her friend. She owed her a drink, and undoubtedly owed Talon Karrde too - something she was sure he wouldn't forget any time soon.
"We'll be here for a little while longer," Aida informed Aves. "Perhaps we may have more business to do in the next few days." It was the turn of Aves to incline his head. In truth, she hoped to meet Karrde himself, and assure him of the Rebellion's friendship. In the meantime, as they left the private room for the noise of one of the Wheel's many casinos, perhaps it was time for her crew to relax a little.
