The Rebel Alliance 1.1 Why was the Rebel Alliance reformed? The Rebel Alliance was reformed after the Destruction of Taris and the sucession of several worlds, including many which went on to form the Pact of Commenor, proved that the Republic was too caught up in its own internal politics to protect the people of the galaxy from the dual threat presented by the Galactic Empire and the resurgent Sith Empire. Numerous patriots and heroes of the Republic gathered together aboard a defecting Republican fleet and, determined to fight the tyrants by any means possible, decided that a return to the methods of warfare that had originally sent the Empire into decline were the best hopes of restoring peace to the galaxy. As such, the Rebel Alliance was reborn. 1.2 What is the Rebel Alliance Fighting Against? The Rebel Alliance is fighting against the evil machinations of the Galactic Empire and the Sith. Its noble warriors are determined to return the galaxy to a period of peace and prosperity, even at the cost of their own lives. 1.3 What became of the Republic? Although numerous worlds have defected or declared independence from the New Republic in recent times, the Republic itself continues to survive, albeit in a smaller form. Now reduced to just a core of loyal worlds centred around Chandrilla, the Republic is struggling to rebuild itself under the leadership of Ethar Wynn. However, these efforts are being undermined by agents of the Empire, the Pact of Commenor and, indeed, the Rebellion itself. "What sweet irony; to use my foe's weapons against them."

The Rebel Alliance Code of Conduct Although the sentients of the Rebel Alliance are determined to shatter the oppressive regiemes of the Empire and the Sith, they are not so foolish as to believe that they can resort to using similar tactics to their enemies without, in time, becoming just as evil as them. As such, many Rebel cells, and certainly all of those that are formed around the three main cells of Astronomican, Vortex and Defiance, adhere to the following code of conduct. The Code of the Alliance No member of the Rebel Alliance shall injure a civilian except in self-defence. Those members of the public found to be working against the Rebellion, as spies, informants or suchlike, shall be arrested and tried, as per law laid down and accepted in the days of the Old Republic. Surrendering prisoners are to be treated well at all times and offered all medical assistance as appropriate. Any agent of the Alliance who is found to harm or humiliate a prisoner, regardless of any reason beyond self defence, shall immediately be removed from duties and tried before a military court. No member of the Rebel Alliance will knowingly involve themselves in actions which are illegal upon the planet on which they are currently operating, excepting those actions which are necessary for the advancement of the greater good and the Alliance cause. Any agent of the Alliance found to be do so will immediately be stripped of rank and tried before a military court. No member of the Rebel Alliance, regardless of location, laws or orders, shall ever indulge in crimes against sentiency, including, but not limited to, slavery, brainwashing and mental erasure. Any agent of the Alliance found to be do so will immediately be stripped of rank and tried before a military court, with a compulsory sentence of death by firing squad for those found guilty of such heinous crimes. No member of the Rebel Alliance shall take it upon themselves to undertake a mission of assassination. Such missions border on the methods of the Empire and, as such, each operation must be authorised by no less than two staff officers of the rank of General or above. Any agent of the Alliance found to engage in such an action without authorisation will immediately be removed from duties and tried before a military court. Organisation 3.1 Cells Cells are the main components of the Rebel Alliance, and the Alliance as a whole is made up of hundreds of individual cells scattered across the galaxy. Some are small, perhaps a dozen people in size, while others are made up of thousands of sentients and entire battlefleets. Though most cells are aware of the existance of other cells in a general sense, very few of them have any real information on their rebel brethren. An exception to this is the commanding officers of the largest rebel cells, who have methods of contacting almost any cell which is truly a part of the Rebel Alliance and not an independant entity operating under the same name. Some known cells are the Astronomican Cell, the Vortex Cell and the Defiant Cell, all of which are capable of fielding large battlefleets made up of Republican defectors. 3.2 Sub-Cells Sub-Cells are smaller, semi-autonomous units that work under the general auspices of one of the larger Rebel Alliance cells. Many specialise in certain types of operation, or might refuse to operate outside of or within certain areas of space. Often, a sub-cell is patronised by a high level officer, or group of officers, from within the larger cell, and it is this officer who takes responsibility for ensuring their actions adhere to the Code of the Alliance. Known Sub-Cells include the Talents, the Unforgiven and the Sons of Fey'lya. 3.3 The Jedi Order Despite rumours to the contrary, the Jedi Order is not part of the Rebel Alliance, but is instead considered a strong and resolute ally. Characters and Locations 4.1 Player Characters Aida Khan - Once counted amongst the greatest Jedi of the Order, Aida Khan departed the Order after elements within the Council forced the Jedi onto a path that she was unable to reconcile with her beliefs. Having learnt much since that time, Khan has recently risen through the ranks to become leader of the Rebel Alliance. 4.2 Non-Player Characters Wedge Antilles - General Wedge Antilles is known as one of the greatest heroes of the Republic and the Rebellion, and for good reason; Antilles is a skilled pilot, soldier and strategist and is famous for being the only pilot to have survived battles against two Death Stars. Currently, Wedge serves as commander of starfighters for the Astronomican fleet, though he is most often found leading Rogue Squadron into battle. Crix Madine - General Crix Madine is another former Imperial who has aquitted himself well during the past decade. A master of subterfuge, he serves as the head of Intelligence for the Rebel Alliance and is responsible for locating and eliminating emerging threats before they can harm vulnerable cells. Judder Page - Captain Page is numbered amongst the most skilled commandos in the galaxy, having been involved in both the tragic Battle of Echo Base and the battle of the Shield Bunker on Endor. Currently, he serves under Crix Madine as a troubleshooter, nipping problems in the bud before they can become full-fledged threats to the Alliance. Ackbar - Perhaps one of the most famous names to have joined the fledgeling Rebel Alliance, Ackbar has regrettably been forced to accept a mere advisory role as a result of wounds suffered during the battle against Zenos' traitorous forces and a mysterious illness that has ravaged his body. Despite this, Ackbar is a revered figure in the Rebellion and his presence somewhat makes up for the tragic loss of Mon Mothma. 4.3 Important Locations Sector Primus - Sector Primus is the codename for the Headquarters of the Rebel Alliance, which can be found in the heart of the Astronomican Fleet. Due to its importance, Sector Primus is rarely involved in battles and is constantly on the move, travelling between one uninhabited system and another, with only the most important of Rebel leaders knowing where it will be at any given time. All agents of the Rebellion approaching Sector Primus must first implement the 'Madine Protocol' which use a number of pseudo-random hyperspace jumps to make it near impossible for agents to be followed. Sector Secundus - Sector Secundus is the codename for the Rebel Alliance contact and assembly point on the planet of Naboo. This is one of the few stationary contact points for the Rebellion and is therefore well guarded, both by the Rebels themselves, the royal militia of Naboo and the watchful Jedi Order. Who is the Rebel Alliance allied with? A. Currently, the Rebel Alliance is allied with no other factions, though negotiations are underway with the BSP and NJO. Q. Will the Rebel Alliance ally with...? A. The Rebel Alliance will only ally with lightside factions, or neutral factions that display lightside tendencies. Any factions, light or otherwise, which frequently engage in behaviour that contrevenes the Code of the Alliance will not be considered as potential allies. Q. How do I go about joining the Alliance? If you wish to join the Rebellion, then your best bet would be to start making some quiet enquiries on a world that is likely to have an operational cell. We would suggest Tatooine, as its noticeable but small Imperial presence makes it an ideal site for a cell. Q. GW worlds that should be controlled by the Alliance are controlled by the Republic. How come? A. The Rebel Alliance isn't interested in owning worlds and, as such, allows liberated worlds to declare allegiance to the Republic if they so wish. However, the Alliance will continue to divert resources from planetary facilities to their own fleets and shipyards. "What sweet irony; to use my foe's weapons against them."
