The Jedi Coalition
The Jedi Coalition was formed by the Jedi Masters in response to the changing nature of the Jedi Order. With
the number of Jedi Knights decreased dramatically due to the horrors which occurred during the Republic civil war, and with the remaining Jedi spread broadly
across the galaxy, the new coalition is a body that cannot be destroyed, and that will always strive on. Its main aim is to follow the truest and most
important ideals of the Jedi Order of the Old Republic, to bring order and peace to the galaxy.
....................................................................................................................................
Note to any new potential faction members:
Although the Jedi have no true alliegence to any particular political party they are currently willing to aid the Rebel Alliance, with hopes of returning the
New Republic to its former self. The Jedi Coalition is however also still in a state of self repair. Whilst it is simple enough to contact the Jedi, their
whereabouts is a matter of utmost secrecy in order for the Jedi to remain safe and away from danger. Please be wary of this fact when roleplaying seeking out
the Jedi on any planet where a temple or enclave is located (especially on Naboo where their presence is not openly advertised).
UPDATE: Naboo and surrounding planets are now considered part of 'The Dominion of Commenor'. As such, open rebellion and Jedi activity
on a large scale is viewed negatively. If you are roleplaying on any of these planets please be aware of the need to tone down your actions to avoid any
potential repercusions.
....................................................................................................................................

Jedi Grand Master is the leader of the Jedi Coalition, and perhaps the wisest of all Jedi. The Grand Master is also a
member of the Jedi Council and is responsible for administering to the needs of the Jedi, and for teaching other Jedi about the path they must take.
Jedi Master is the highest rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Master has shown exceptional skill and mastery of the Force, as well as proven himself
worthy through countless extraordinary deeds.
Jedi Knight is the most common rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Knight is one who has shown a good level of understanding of the Force, as well as
shown excellent skill in battle. Gaining this rank involves completion of the Jedi Trials. Jedi Knights are officially seen as active members of the Jedi
Coalition and are free to train themselves, as well as others.
Jedi Padawan is the lowest rank of the Jedi Coalition. A Jedi Padawan is one who is currently receiving training in the Force from a higher ranking
Jedi. They are generally of low skill.
....................................................................................................................................
Once Jedi Padawans have successfully completed their trials and have become Jedi Knights, they are encouraged to find their place amongst the Jedi Coalition.
There are three main paths that Jedi Knights can follow; Jedi Consular, Jedi Guardian, and Jedi Sentinel.
The Jedi Consular relies more on Force abilities than Combat, preferring to study the Force and its mysteries rather than using it in battle. They are
the ambassadors of the Jedi Coalition.
The Jedi Guardian combines physical training with mastery of the Force. They concentrate on lightsaber combat, defensive powers and battle prowess.
They are the defenders of the Coalition.
The Jedi Sentinel strikes a balance between the diplomacy and Force mastery of the Consular, and the physical and combat mastery of the Guardian. They
often act as police, seeking out the evil in the galaxy.
There are also other paths a Jedi can take if they so wish, which are a bit more specialised. These include, but are not limited to, Jedi Healers and Jedi
Investigators. A more complete list can be found here on Wookiepedia.

The Jedi Code
The Jedi Code is the sacred mantra handed down by previous generations which all Jedi must know and understand.
Jedi are the guardians of peace in the galaxy.
Jedi use their powers to defend and to protect.
Jedi respect all life, in any form.
Jedi serve others rather than ruling over them, for the good of the galaxy.
Jedi seek to improve themselves through knowledge and training.
There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

The Jedi Code of Conduct
All Jedi should adhere to the code of conduct as rules to follow. Breaking of the code of conduct will result in disciplinary measures, the severity of which
are dependent on the severity of the offence, and are decided on by a jury of peers. However, it is understood that sometimes one or two of these rules may
need to be bent in order to uphold the remaining rules as well as better follow the Jedi Code, but only in extreme circumstances.
- A Jedi should always try and keep peace.
- A Jedi should always try and seek peaceful solutions to problems.
- A Jedi should never fight in anger or for revenge.
- A Jedi should only use their powers for defence and protection.
- A Jedi should never use their power for personal gain.
- A Jedi should never provoke another into battle.
- A Jedi should always try and fight fairly, and if possible, end the battle with as little loss of life as possible.
- A Jedi should never kill a defenceless opponent.
- A Jedi should respect all life in any form.
- A Jedi should respect the beliefs, culture and opinions of other individuals, species, races and groups.
- A Jedi should only confront the beliefs of others when they infringe upon the rights of other individuals (e.g. the right to own slaves).
- A Jedi should respect the laws and cultural practices of the community they are in, as long as they do not infringe upon the rights of others.
- A Jedi should never force their own beliefs, views or opinions on others and should always try to better understand those beliefs which differ from their
own.
- A Jedi should be mindful of their own feelings, but should not dismiss them completely.
- A Jedi should never rule or have control over anyone else.
- A Jedi should put the needs of the community above the needs of individuals.
- A Jedi should honour his Master, the Jedi Council and the Jedi Coalition.
- A Jedi should honour the wishes of the Force and follow its guidance.
- A Jedi should always keep in mind the 'Jedi Code'.
- A Jedi should be mindful of the dangers of the dark side of the Force, but should never allow it to control his actions.
- A Jedi should always strive to do what is good and just.
- A Jedi is permitted to have relations, as long as it in no way interferes with their duty as a Jedi Knight.

Jedi Temple Locations:
The Jedi have a number of temples around the galaxy from which they fight for justice and peace. The main temple is located on the planet of Naboo. This temple is actually a grand enclave complex, known as the Naboo Jedi Enclave. It
was built after the destruction of Taris to serve as the main hub of Jedi activity, as well as to be the location of the Jedi Council, main Jedi Archives and
the Jedi Academy. Its location is kept quiet whilst the Jedi Coalition rebuilds itself after the Republic civil war. Being an enclave with most of the building
being underground, makes it inconspicuous, with only a large mansion type structure with a few smaller buildings around it visible on the surface. The other
Jedi Temples in the galaxy, including ones on Dantooine, Telos IV, Sullust, Mon Calamari (Dac) and Ossus, are more widely
known, though smaller in size, and often help people get in contact with the Jedi Coalition. There is also a Jedi Outpost on Korriban, used to
monitor Sith activity, though this area is hotly contested.

Advice for new members:
- Jedi Knight is the most common rank of Jedi. As such, when you reach level 4 or above and have complete your trials, you will become a Jedi Knight, rather
than undertaking the two trials separately to move from Jedi to Knight.
- Trials can be RPed alone or with a master, but be aware that a solo RP will be watched carefully by one or more masters, who will warn you if they think
youre heading in the wrong direction. More details on trials can be seen below.
- Dont RP going onto an enemys planet (e.g. Coruscant, Ziost) unless necessary. This should be common sense, as I dont suppose anyone particularly wants to be
captured.
- Never flash your lightsaber around. If no one knows youre a Jedi, try to keep it that way as far as IC posts are concerned. The minute you ignite your
lightsaber and try to cut your way out of a problem, trouble is going to follow in many cases. Your lightsaber is your last defense. Remember that Jedi are
peaceful, and to fight is a last resort.
- Regarding both OOC and IC threads, if you feel someone is attacking you, indirectly or directly, don't post irrationally. Simply keep calm and deal with
it sensibly. Keep the Jedi name as squeaky clean as possible.
- Should you find yourself in a battle thread, remember this: for Jedi, fighting is defensive not offensive; for protection not aggression. Sure you can fight,
and if someone charges at you with several very large guns then I suggest you do. Just remember, you are a Jedi, and you should try to act like one.
- You should tone your role-play Force skills to your actual technical role-playing mechanics. For example, if you have S1, C1 and A1, and a character with C2
is hiding his thoughts, you shouldn't be able to probe them. If you have C0 and a person with S3 is sensing you or attempting to, your mind should be
pretty open. Its the same with anything else - if you're S1 you shouldn't expect to feel, hear and know everything around you, as even a S3 may have
trouble. Try to keep it realistic.
- Listen to any advice a Jedi Master or a more experienced role-player gives, and try to take it on board. Don't feel they're criticising you; its
encouragement.
- When training, try to keep it realistic. If you have been granted 'Strong with the Force' status by a Force moderator then you are likely to
learn much faster than if you have not, but either way: your character is new to the Force, and everyone has a few problems when they start out.
- The SLIU has more information on Force powers and the suchlike so that will be your scripture when it comes to Force training. The rules have altered to
allow you to train without a Master now but be aware that there are NPC masters here for that purpose to keep it realistic and also that our PC masters are
more than happy to lend a helping hand.

Jedi Trials:
Once you reach Force User Level 4 or higher, and feel you are ready to attempt your trials, then you may go ahead and role-play them. Whether you chose to do
it solo or have someone accompany you, post a link to it somewhere so that it can be watched by an experienced PC Jedi who will let you know how you are
getting on and keep you on the right track.
The trials consist of two parts: the construction of a light-weapon (most commonly a lightsaber), and a test of physical and/or mental strength, as well as
your dedication to the Jedi Coalition.
Lightsaber construction consists of finding the parts for your saber, including a crystal and then the actual construction of the lightsaber with aid from the
Force. It requires 750 words of quality RP for it to be accepted in the SLIU. Other light-weapons have differing word reqirements depending on the skill and
time needed to create them.
The second part of the trials could be one of four things: the Trial of Skill, the Trial of the Flesh, the Trial of Courage, or the Trial of the Spirit. This
part requires you to do something: be it a test of your Force skills or your bravery and control. If you are having trouble thinking up ideas then feel free to
ask others for guidance and suggestions on what you could do.
Should you complete these two parts, you will move from the rank of Padawan to Knight within the Jedi Coalition.
