When a new member joins the BSP they are assigned a clan. If you have a preference please state it, but it won't always be possible to house people where they want to be, as it is important that membership of the clans is relatively even.
It is possible to change clans later on, but only if absolutely necessary.
The Corsairs
Specialisation: Fleet operations and space combat. The Corsairs are the workhorse of the BSP. Many of the most skilled fleet tacticians and talented fighter pilots are Corsairs. If youre involved in a successful raid theres a chance a Corsair is in command. The Corsairs are also responsible for BSP security.
Traits: Corsairs tend to work hard and play hard. They spend long times in deep space and serving aboard their beloved fleet, so when they go dirtside they really like to let their hair down! The Corsairs are the most vehemently anti-CSA clan, and many of their ranks were ex-Rebellion and ex-Republic officers who didnt adjust too well to the more sedate and officious nature of a galactic government.
Specialist wing: Corsairs Exploration Corps.
The Nightshades
Specialisation: Intelligence and slicing. The Nightshades are experts at infiltration, sabotage and intel gathering. The BSP special operations department and intelligence wing have a higher concentration of Nightshades than any other BSP branch. The Nightshades are the slicers, agents and assassins of the BSP.
Traits: Nightshades are often guarded even with other members of the BSP. While they are less boisterous and more reserved than other BSP clans the Nightshades are no less good natured, even if they may seem unfriendly at times. They are known to support a number of clandestine anti-governmental organisations in both the CSA and the Empire, and have a well developed network of intelligence contacts.
Special wing: Nightshades Special Ops.
The Celestials
Specialisation: Research and Development, engineering and combat engineering. The Celestials are the scientists and engineers of the BSP. They are in charge of researching new technologies, manufacturing and maintaining the fleet and infrastructure, as well as handling any engineering tasks which may be required either in or out of combat situations. Large scale hijacking operations, including stealing entire orbital facilities would be impossible without the Celestials Combat engineers.
Traits: While the obviously cerebral branch of the BSP the Celestials are still very much thrill seekers and dilettantes. Because they spend, on average, less time than other BSPs in combat when they do they really have a desire to prove themselves and can be reckless with their own personal safety. The Celestials are a little less anti-government than other BSP and are known to support BSP involvement in galactic politics.
Special wing: Celestials Combat Engineers.
The White Blades
Specialisation: Boarding actions and dirstide raids. The White Blades are the close quarters combat experts of the BSP. They are in charge of weapons and ground assault training, as well as boarding actions and unarmed combat. The BSP Marauders have a higher concentration of White Blades than any other wing of the BSP.
Traits: The White Blades are always on the lookout for prime planet based targets, and itch to get into active service. White Blades become bored easily, and its a sensible policy for the BSP to keep them busy, otherwise they tend to get drunk and start fights amongst themselves! While quarrelsome and quick to anger a White Blade is just as likely to buy you a drink after hes tried to beat your head from your shoulders, nomatter who the victor. They are good natured and fun loving, and very fiercely loyal to their friends. The corsairs are known to distrust force users, but yet are the most pro-NR clan of the BSP.
Special Wing: White Blades SCC (Special Combat Corps).
