He stood and walked to touch the should of the one called Rani. Several other Shadow Warriors, whom Quinton had only just called to the bridge joined him. Jarekk noticed, however, that both Ken and Gantoris were not among them. That, was the last he thought before darkness consumed all his senses and it was moments before he saw anything again.... The Fleet Admiral immediately sent orders to both the Ghost and the Firefly. Ken and Gantoris were to join him on board The Ascension and The Ghost was to escort the two Namanas back home. The actual term should have been tow but, the wording was chosen in an attempt to keep morale high. As originally planned, the Ascension would continue to Corellia to aid the efforts there. Quinton and his young apprentice had left with eight other shadows at the coat tails of some figure who had appeared to Quinton. Damn force users....

The message was relayed that Quin, Jarekk, and a host of less experienced Warriors than the two had been transported off-ship by a visiting Sith. The feat used for their disappearance exhibited a lack of detail, making the story seem that much harder to swallow, but the fleet admiral's orders made the message clear. Moments later, both Shadows found themselves onboard a small shuttle transporting them from the Ghost to the Ascension. Ken wasn't surprised to find his disappointment mirrored in Gantoris once they found out that their leader had been transported by the red-haired Echani to some unknown destination. And for once, he realized, he wasn't alone in his frustrations. Silently, they discussed what the next phase of action would be once they reached the Fleet Admiral aboard the Ascension and how much of an impact their combat expertise would have on the rest of the campaign considering the results of the failed experiment that was their travel through the interdiction field.

Posts: 3660 (04/21/08 18:06:45) Rebel Leader Master of the Force The Unforgiven Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	The heavy, pregnant silence that had descended upon the room in the scant seconds between his arrival and the Diktat's eventual response told Kal everything he needed to know about Sal-Solo; he was a man of principles, however distorted those principles might be, and he was little inclined to look at things from the perspective of others. He was, in short, a diplomat's nightmare. But that was fine; Kal was no diplomat, and his nightmares rarely bore similarities to theirs. Still, he was careful to maintain the charade a while after realising how pointless it was, using the precious moments he gained by summerising the Republic's desire to reach an amicable solution to probe their surroundings for anything of note. Only when he was satisfied that he knew the currents of the force that flowed through the structure did he let the masklike facade melt from his features, replacing it with the stern and unyielding countenance that so many had come to know. Quickly, he drew the force to himself, filling his body with as much energy as he believed he could handle, before releasing it in an imperious, force-backed command, "Deactivate the Interdiction Field." He was taking a risk, he knew. Even if his use of the ancient mind control technique was successful, and that was a star-destroyer sized 'if', there would be those amongst Sal-Solo's cretinous minions who would decide to investigate the unanticipated command. Perhaps they would even re-establish the Interdiction field themselves, though from what Kal knew of the station that was highly improbable. Far more likely was that they would come to question Thracken, thus forcing him to abandon any hopes of a bloodless solution. Not that he'd held much hope to begin with.

Screams from within - all too abruptly silenced - marked the painful demise of the crew, while drawn out shrieks and moans were evidence of the plights of those close enough to the tank to have been struck by scything shards of shattered metal. The surviving CorSec officers stumbled about in disarray, half-blinded and deafened by the explosion, struggling to reform their defensive line. Alas, it was too late; the destruction of the riot tank had proved a powerful boost to the morale of the cowed insurrectionists and now they surged forward, sweeping over the stunned enforcers and bludgeoning them down with anything that came to hand. Not a soul paid a bit of heed to Zasabi Ray, architect of this new pool of chaos. Thrion and Lazrus, Corellian Spacelanes A deadly dance was underway in the spacelanes, with fighters twisting and spinning between blossoming orange and red explosions and massive capital ships unleashing volley after volley of crimson and emerald turbolaser fire. Titanic ramships, their heavily armoured prows surrounded by a shimmering halo of laserfire, hurtled across the starry void, smashing aside those fighters too slow to evade. A lance of emerald fire caught one amidships as it swept past a Star Destroyer, shearing the prow from the engines with a thunderous explosion that sent fighters spinning across the ebon eternities. Others were luckier, tearing into the Imperial formation as their ill-fated brother erupted in a fresh-series of explosions. One, its forward shields failing as laserfire from the point defenses of its prey melted portions of its armour, engaged its afterburners once more, driving it forward into the underbelly of the Star Destroyer Engager and initiating a series of blooming explosions and shockwaves that quickly tore the titanic warship apart. A similiar picture was playing out across the battlefield, with the first wave of ramships either detonating in flames on the open starfield or completing their objectives with terrible consequences. Doubtless the suicidal tactics caught the Imperial tacticans offguard, and by the time they managed to regain their calm the rest of the fleet was upon them, closing to near minimal range to exchange thunderous broadsides. Many Triad vessels died in those moments, their weak armour easily overwhelmed by the sheer power of the Imperial warships, but the numbers were to their advantage, and soon the toll of being so heavily outnumbered began to show as a half-dozen Imperial warships began to report everything from shield failures to hull breaches and, in one case, a complete reactor meltdown. It seemed as though cunning tactics would have to be employed to guarantee victory for the Imperial forces.

Thankfully, none of the surrounding troopers were in any condition to take advantage of his disorientation. Shaking his head, he rose to his feet and wobbled his way over to a nearby alleyway, resting against the wall in a futile attempt to drop his heart rate back to normal. His ears were mostly protected by the auto-dampeners in his concealing helmet, but he had still been altogether too close to two massive explosions. He was going to try to get into the tank, but it would seem that the distraction would be enough to turn the tide for the Republicans...here, anyways.

Many of the ships had suffered damage and others destroyed. But their firepower was greater but the numbers against them were more. Timing was vital and tactics were called for. Life brought hope and pain. At this time pain was upon them; hope couldn't be to far away. "Signal our ships with enough power to activate their tractor beams. Whatever hostile craft are in range or debris from destroyed craft, active it upon them. Use them as a shield against some blows and a projectile against others." Thrion says as his ship shakes again from a blow to the hull. Out numbered and to a point out gunned was the time. Burdens were being shared as the death toll on both sides was increasing. "Signal all fighters to break and attack any craft on course to hit any of our ships and targets that sensor data appears to be coordinating the assault. Target fuel stores, power grids, engines, and weapons. Disable them as quickly as possible. Coordinate the attacks with gunnery control on as many ships as possible. Take down their shields then hit them with ion cannon fire. I want as many ships disabled as fast as possible so we can use them with our tractor beams." It was a decent plan. Using fighters and ships to combine ion cannon fire with heavier fire so the disabling effects of the ion cannons would become far more effective then using their tractor beams for the full effect. But only time would tell if they had enough ships and fighters to take out as many ships as possible in the shortest period of time. That was the vital part. "Relay those orders to command." He says nearly falling to the deck as the ships shakes violently as a breach was formed on the lower decks. He could only calculate they had a few ships capable of pulling this off. He only wished he had calculated the odds earlier and devised it then but now was not the time for analyzing his actions. Thrion pulls himself back into his command chair as he watches the readouts. "Damage reports in, sir. I can't say I've seen worse." The Commander says wiping blood from his head. Thrion remains in his seat. "The day is not over yet, Commander. But the tide will turn to our favor soon." He rotates the chair. "Captain, perhaps its time to be creative. Have the hanger crews that are currently unoccupied with their fighters in combat, rig all warheads we have onboard our ships for use with fighters for a remote launch. Once they are ready move use the hanger tractor beams to move them outside the ships. Then as our pilots call it, dumb fire them in the direction of hostile forces when their vectors are appropriate. The timing is vital but safety is paramount. We do not need a violent explosion in our hanger bay on any of our ships." He says wondering if it was smart ot even try it but the 10 to 30 minutes it would take for them to figure it out was worth it. If not for this current battle for future ones. "Yes, sir." The Captain says more dazed then anything from a broad side of explosions and the Commodore's thinking. "I'll see to it personally." The battle would rage forward as a complex series of events would unfold. Plans within plans and hope within chaos, it was the natural state for so many it seemed.

The Sith felt the burden of them all, his body screaming in silent agony as he felt himself being rushed by their combined weight. The party was perhaps emerged in the threshold of darkness for mere moments, but the Dark Lord wondered if he'd ever escape the excruciating shade to see the natural light of a solar orb again. And then, with a shift as fluid as a pirate's nimble fingers into an unsuspecting pocket, the Sith and Shadow assembly slid free of the cursed embrace of lightlessness. "Everyone get comfortable, we have a long way to go." Churs uttered tonelessly, damming the welling fatigue. He could not allow the stress he had put himself through to show or breed into exhaustion. As daunting as the test run had been, the next time he would attempt the exotic method would be even more taxing. Failure is this portion of the plan was not an option. If Rani failed, they would all die. "Full speed ahead." The Dark Lord doubted Lanya or the rest of the cloaked vessels needed to told that, but he made the order anyway. This, to him, was the most difficult part of all: the wait. At least with the risky shadow walking they were doing something and driving their destiny. Yet it was necessary evil, to get to the destination they had to endure the journey.

He had just watched an interesting news hologram indeed. The hologram had just informed the enthralled Tarkin that a man by the name of Thracken Sal-Solo had declared himself supreme diktat of the corellian system. Sal-solo seemed to be ambitious, as he had forced all galactic powers away from the system using some kind of massive space station. The space station was heavily armored, shielded, and equipped with weapons. There was a particularly shocking clip of a Capital ship being torn clean in two by a laser cannon blast from the station. The whole situation was intriguing to Arax, not only was Corellia his system of origin, but he had quite a bit invested in several corellian buisnesses. He leaned back in the pilot's chair, all of this was interesting. He loved Corellia, it had always been a special place in his mind. In comparison to other planets, corellian humans stuck together, and looked out for one another, for the most part. What added more to the situation was Sal-Solo intended on purifying the planet's population. All of this disturbed Arax to the extreme, he did not like when intellegent creatures suffered, espiecially corellians. He punched in the co-ordinants for the system, he would have to go. However, he did not intend on being space dust like the capital ship he saw on the new hologram. He would have to come out of hyperspace far eonough away from the planet to declare himself, or to sneak by the planetary defenses. It was like jumping from a great height and only being in the air a couple of seconds. While you're there it seems to take forever but one you land, the whole thing seems so minor, so long as you are fine when you land. And even then, there is that lingering feeling that the next time you do it, it won't go as well... That was the exact case here. Jarekk found himself suddenly standing amoung many figures who he could tell nothing about. All seemed comfortable enough with each other, though a tension held in the air for minutes, even after Rani issued his order. And, at his speaking, Jarekk snapped to his senses, having almost forgotten that he knew nothing about the man whom Quinton had them traveling with now. There was no way for him to know any of him except what the man revealed, with the exception of his name; which The Praetor had spoken earlier. Now, it was just a waiting game. **** It was almost half an hour after Quinton and the others had left before The Ascension was ready to set course. All able bodied warriors were onboard and any unnessicary crew was left to attend to the two Namanas as The Ghost escorted them back. With a vector plotted, A'kruo order the vessel to head directly to Corellia at the utmost possible speed. Readings had indicated that they were currently in a large planet and it would take three-fourths of a standard day to reach it's edge at the vector they had chosen. It was now that A'kruo decided to give Ken and Gantoris the full extent of their orders. Have the two of them meet me in the debriefing room...

Corellia needed saving, and it was taking them far too long to go about that task. After a moment of waiting with an unmarked conference room, the door slid open, and they were joined by A'kruo. They followed him once he took a seat, and listened as he cleared his throat. "What are our orders, sir?" he asked, fully aware that combat was just a few words away.

Ensigns raced across the capital vessel, colonels looking on with steeled features locking away the fear they felt racing through them. For the Infiltrators, the ships defending Centerpoint would be of little threat. For a moment they would be exposed upon exiting hyper space, but then they could resume their unseen state. The Gunship had no such luxury, they would be sitting ducks the entire duration of the journey. It was clear to them. Tigon was sending them on a suicide mission. And they would continue to follow orders until the vacuum of space evaporated their blood. Stealth Task Force "The plan is this:" Rani began, slashing through the silence with the brutal determination of his voice. The soon to be retired Dark Lord gestured to Lanya to bring him the datapad he had used to calculate the finer details of his plan. "As soon as we break this barrier we are going to drop our cloaks and make a jump." This part of the plan was of course obvious, but Churs knew when dealing with others it was best not to exclude even the glaring signs. If one of the Shadows lost their composure when the cloaks were dropped, the price of such an antic would be bloody. "The goal is to exit within extremely close proximity to the station. When we exit, I expect you all to be ready to fight, shields and weapons ready.Because by the time the ships recloak, we will be on board Centerpoint." "Any questions?"

The Admiral spent his time right at the front of the chamber, looking directly out of the view port, trusting his eyes to see the flow of the battle. A sudden shudder seemed to quieten the noise across the bridge before the volume picked again, even louder than before this time. "What was that?", spoke the annoyed tones of the Admiral. In the distance he saw a bright light blossom towards the far front of the vessel, turning around he caught view of a junior officer who seemed to appear as startled as an Ewok in a lightening storm. The junior officer, turned to face the crew pit and seemed to motion quickly with his right hand to one of the other officer in there. A second later, something was yelled back though the Admiral was unable to make it out, but the officer turned and took a few steps to the superior officer. "One of the turbolaser computer targeting systems got hit Admiral, all gun platforms affected are being having their targeters rerouted", spoke the junior officer. The Admiral frowned and turned to look out towards the battle once more, the fight was getting more hectic and dangerous in his opinion. Letting out a gruff sigh, he turned around, walked past the junior officer towards the Captain and a group of other officer that backed off when they saw the higher ranked officer approach. "Captain, why is the left flank of the taskforce weakening?", asked the Admiral. The Captain turned to face the other officer and seemed to stall for a moment or two as if assembling a correct response to the sudden question from the man who had just arrived behind him. "We have had to divert vessels since the loss of the Engager, the enemy are proving to be more dangerous than the reports estimated", replied the Captain. The Admiral internally sighed, this was the Corellian system, a system known for its strong willed people, yet command did not seem to include that in their reports, or that is what they had quickly found out. But they were the empire, and they would not allow themselves to beaten so easily. "What is the status of the rest of the fleet?", asked the Admiral to the Captain again. The other officer seemed to visibly concentrate as if trying to remember, all the while another, yet smaller, shudder passed through the bridge. The Admiral tensed his fists, he suddenly remembered his annoyance of the officer once again as he kept waiting for his answer and if on cue the other officer looked straight back into the eyes Admiral. "Enth had suffered acceptable damage according to the last update, Onithdespite taking the brunt are suffering the least of three from what I can gather", replied the Captain once more. The Admiral turned his head sharply to the side, looking down the command walkway towards the view port, little flashes of light could still be made out from this distance beyond into the battlefield. "I'm about to order our fighters to cover our taskforce while we regroup ready to hit them again", spoke the Captain further with more confidence in his voice. At the words, the Admiral who had for a few moments lapsed into deep thought suddenly turned to face the officer, his eyes boring into the man's skull. "We'll do nothing of the sort, we are to press on with the attack, and we can't lose the flow of the battle. Get our fighters to target their engines instead, if we can knock out their mobility, they should lose their edge", spoke the Admiral solemnly. The Captain looked into his eyes for a moment as if getting ready to say something, and then finally spoke up. "Even though Admiral, even with our superior forces, their vast numbers will see the end of this fleet", spoke the Captain as if raising a minor clerical error. The brow of the Admiral furrowed at the response from the Captain, his patience for the man quickly now reaching its limit, he truly missed the calibre of officers of old. "This whole fleet may be reduced to dust, but another fleet will merely take our place. We Captain are the Galactic Empire, and we will show the turncoat SalSolo that he was wrong to even threaten us, we will push forward and wear down our enemies and when we fall those behind us will continue this fight until this whole system has been razed. So as long as they fall Captain, we our doing our duty", spoke the Admiral in a strong tone. The Captain blinked his eyes in response to the words, but then a small smile crept over his face and he turned to face the other officers who were still standing away looking at the Admiral. Turning around, the Admiral walked back towards the view port once again. Behind, he could hear the distinct tones of the officers acknowledging the Captains orders, their voices seemingly rising above the general din of the bridge. The image of the battle beyond grew larger, as the naval officer neared his favourite position on the bridge during this battle. He knew this course would be damaging for the fleet but it had to be so, to regroup or drive through would leave a vast fleet that could be used to enforce the system further in case of their failure, Centrepoint could wait for the time being, the current operation could deal with an attempt from it, but this fleet of theirs needed to be eradicated first and foremost. His right hand motioned over to the junior officer he had previously spoken to, and the officer made his way over his superior's side. "Before SalSolo turned on us, we had the support of the forces of the Twin worlds, use the systems to single out those vessels and send them all a transmission. Tell them that if they return to their previous allies, they will be excused from this reckless behaviour and will be given control of this system once the 'Corellian' idealist has been dealt with", spoke the Admiral as he continued to watch the battle outside. The junior officer nodded and went away to complete the order given, the Admiral wondered if such actions would accomplish anything this far in, but if could work it had to be tried, even after his words previously the old officer knew that the balance of the battle could be tipped so, then he should make every opportunity so to.

The self-preservation program was rudimentary as it was, and bypassing it proved all too easy. Explosives had never been his preference, but he'd brushed up on his demolitions skill recently. An energy-specific proximity charge and a back-up detonator would deal with what seemed like an inevitable bit of treachery. Those who gained power were generally loath to give it up, and he doubted speciest like Thrackan Sal-Solo would prove to be the exception. Still it would be telling how the Corellian reacted and it would suit his needs in any case. He dressed the droid in a heavy cloak that concealed its features. Once he finished he glanced at his human visage in the mirror, running his fingers along the weathered features. At dusk, he ordered the droid to a bench in Keben Park. Lanya remained quiet eyeing those around her master. Lanya did her best to remain in control and calm. This was where she focus, other than listening to what was occuring around her. Watching every movement, she was close to eye anything that maybe unsafe. This was where her hunter skills filled in, being an ex bounty hunter she knew how to see signs of threat, even slightest of movements gave off signs of peoples intent. Lanya stepped back behind her master once she placed the pad in his hand. Her red eyes focused on the table around her master.

He gazed around the cockpit, and out the glass into the vaccum of space. Numerous stars zoomed by him, and then suddenly there was an audible groan, as the ship was ripped out of hyperspace. This was unusual when pulling out of hyperspace, the YT usually made the transition smoothly. This wrenching from hyperspace signified the presence of an interdictor. Arax scrambled at the controls so he could quickly declare himself. "This is corellian born human Arax Tarkin, of the Brazen Courtesan, I am merely returning home after watching a news hologram. I am requesting permission to land on the planet, if that is possible. I am broadcasting on all frequencies." Despite the underlying feeling that he would not be blasted into fine powder, Arax raised the shields anyway. "Better safe, then space dust" he mumbled to himself.

"Deactivate the Interdiction field". Like someone had dumped a load of durasteel on his shoulders the Diktat sagged slightly his eyes unfocused.

Despite the size of the device, the signal was a powerful one, capable of easily reaching the Republic fleet that was stationed just a micro-jump away. With his silent message winging its way across the void, the Corellian returned his attentions to Thracken, who was already beginning to recover from the effects of his mental domination. Fortunately, it was unlikely that he would remember what he had just done, just as it was unlikely that any of his lackeys would dare question their terrible master's orders. Still, Kal was painfully aware that there was always the chance that something could go awry in the short minutes it would take for the fleet to arrive, and he couldn't allow himself to relax yet. Thracken still had to be dealt with. But how? The most obvious answer seemed to be to take his lightsaber and separate the wretched man's head from his body, but Kal was loathe to do so; traitor or not, the man was a Corellian. Besides, there was the slim possibility that he was connected to some form of a deadman switch that might alert his minions or, worse still, fire Centerpoint's main armament into the nearby sun. He couldn't risk it. For now, he would simply have to patiently, and peacefully, detain Thracken. "So," he murmured, forcing a thoughtful facade onto his features as he regarded the recovering insurrectionist, "Would you remind me of your demands? I have been authorised to negotiate fully." Republic Fleet, Staging Point Aurek Aboard the mighty battlecruiser Astronomican, Admiral Kias Andalasia perched in his command chair with ill-disguised impatience. His fingers drummed restlessly along the arms of his chair, tapping out a unsubtle indication of his desire to sally forth against the treacherous guns of Thracken's minions. But there was no chance of that just yet; the interdiction field around the system made such forays nigh on impossible, and the entire fleet had been forced to rely on the guile and cunning of one man, himself a traitor no less. In Kias' book, that was about as far from a good omen as you could get. "Anything yet?" he growled, voicing once more the words that had escaped his lips close to ten times in the previous hour. "No...," replied the luckless ensign stationed at the communications terminal, "Wait! Yes! We're receiving Strife's signal!" Stunned, the Admiral remained still and silent a moment, before launching himself to his feet with a gleeful roar; "Inform all ships and set the pre-prescribed vectors; let's take the war to Sal-Solo!" Mere moments later, the Astronomican lurched as its hyperspace engines powered up and drove it through the veil between dimensions, beginning the short hyperspace micro-jump that would quickly bring them beyond the disabled interdiction field.

Perhaps it might even have been enough to convince an inferiorly trained force, but it was no inferior force that Thracken had despatched to deal with him; no, he dealt with CorSec now, an organised and well-trained group who had already encounter all the rouses the lowlifes of the galaxy cared to throw their way. Thus it was that the first of them, a young man wearing flexible, matt-black body armour over a similarly coloured bodyglove, carried a portable sensor unit, which he used to scan the immediate vicinity before they even drew close. "Negative lifesigns," he murmured to his teammates, not once allowing his eyes to flicker away from the display, "Large energy signature. Droid. Looks like something else, too." "Any suppositions?" enquired his superior. "Uncertain," the first of them admitted, "Could be a bomb, could be a pile of energy cells intended to delay us." "Understood," returned the team leader, before flicking his headset onto a different, secure, channel, "All units, be aware that the target is not at the expected location and has left a decoy. Be alert." Arax Tarkin Although the Interdiction field pulled Arax's transport out of hyperspace mere minutes before being deactivated, the young traveller might still have escaped notice but for the transmission he sent out to the distant root of the problem. Moments later, another transmission was sent in response to his own, a simple warning that said only; "This sector is under Interdiction. Turn away or you will be destroyed."

Still, Thrion's skillfull use of the drifting hulks as additionally armour had served the Empire well, and not a single capital ship had been lost after the initial stages of battle, while numerous Triad ships had erupted in flames. Even the mighty Strike Cruiser that had served as flagship had been destroyed, its hull torn apart from within as a lone proton torpedo had punctured its armour and damaged the reactor shielding. Two mighty dreadnaughts, venting gasses from gaping wounds in their hulls, had come close to colliding, and now one drifted, lifeless, while the other was peppered by fire from Imperial craft. Their cadre of leaders decimated by the deaths aboard these titanic vessels, the Triad forces milled about in confusion, some attempting to escape only to be chased down by faster Imperial craft as the Interdictor's gravity wells denied them the sanctuary offered by hyperspace. However, not all of the fleet was willing to simply give up to fate, and the hardened core of the fleet continued to harry the Imperial fleet with everything they could muster. The battle was far from over.

Damage reports estimated only 30% damage to the Star Destroyer. Far better then he expected from the impacts but not unwelcome to the calculating mind of Thrion. Things were going very well. Soon they'd be on the way again to the station though something felt wrong. On some level he felt as if they might be too late. They were not the only power trying to take the station. This delay could cost them greatly, Thrion suspected. "Focus our firepower on the largest enemy ship as well as our fighters. Support ships are to target the smallest enemy ship and press upward while we do downward. Time to end this." He says knowing full well that in the time to come there would be many choices to make and his path would change from time to time. His time with the Empire felt like it was coming to a close with his associates hinting of a new role in the galaxy. It didn't matter to him now. Thrion had a job to do and that was all that mattered. "This fleet is stalling us. Its clear as day. We must press on if we are expected to be victorious." He ponders within his mind. But he was not the one in command and he was not the person who would suffer if they failed. He was only one of those commanding a few ships. They had time but could not waste too much on this minor obstacle even with the damage they were taking and dealing.
