Eryk had reached a startling realisation. It seemed to matter what he did, no matter how much he trained, those who sought to destroy him and all he stood for were always somehow stronger; especially the Sith Lord Eryk had faced in the past. Even his lightsaber skills, though impressive, still did not seem enough. He knew that there would come a time when he could not become any more powerful, when he reached a cap in his power, and he understood that. However, all he wanted was to be able to protect those he cared about.
With this dilemma heavy on his mind Eryk sought the council of another Jedi Master, Master Naomi Kilsar. Together they walked the underground halls of the Jedi Enclave on Naboo as Eryk explained his predicament.
"It seems no matter what I do our enemies still overpower us. I'm not sure I have the power to stop them."
"You must not give up hope Master Aiden. Your skills have come a long way. Some say you are one of the best lightsaber dualists the Order has seen in some time."
"Yes, although none of the six lightsaber combat forms seem to be working for me. I always end up using a variety of several of them without really mastering any one. Perhaps this is where I am going wrong."
Naomi paused for a moment.
"Do you not realise that there is in fact a seventh form of lightsaber combat?"
"A seventh form? No, I have never heard of it."
"It is extremely powerful and effective, but it is also very illusive. It hasn't really been used since the end of the Old Republic. Only a very few Jedi have ever mastered it fully. For you see, this lightsaber form originates from the dark side of the Force. As such it feeds on dark energy."
"The dark side…" Eryk muttered to himself.
"Many Jedi who try to learn it have fallen to the darkness. The original Sith combat form was known as Juyo, a vicious form born of fury. During the
Old Republic a great Jedi warrior known as Jedi Master Mace Windu developed Juyo and ultimately created the seventh form, known as Vaapad, also known as
'The Way of the Vornskr'."
Eryk began to imagine what kind of techniques this illusive form contained. Could it be possible for him to learn it? As he pondered to himself Naomi continued to speak.
"It was considered so close to the dark side that Master Windu had to use all his power to stop it from consuming him. As such he rarely taught the form to others, and there would be very little information about how to learn it."
Eryk felt a little defeated, but decided not to give up hope.
"Maybe there isn't much to go on, but I am going to try. If I can learn this seventh form of lightsaber combat, Vaapad, then perhaps I may be finally ready and worthy to protect the Jedi Order."
Eryk began to head towards the Jedi archives.
"Be careful Master Aiden", Naomi warned. "The Vaapad form is a dangerous path to walk. Stray even a little and darkness will consume you."
