Posts: 103 (06/19/09 11:31:17) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	Tags : None Hello all, As you may or may not know, in my thread " Proposal on the Astronomican" In this thread James Tartoc is proposing repairing the Centerpoint Station. Now I am aware that a number of the older players fear that I am seeking to bring in a new Death Star level weapon for the Rebels, that is not the case at all. In my motives/intentions shall be listed below. I hope to: 1. Use the Centerpoint Station's interdiction field to shield the Corellian Sector in a defensive manner 2. I hope to use the "Giant Repulsors" located on the Five Brothers in a offensive manner to protect against any ships that do manage to get past the field I do not want to: 1. Use the Centerpoint Station's "Death Ray thingie" to destroy any other system or threaten any other Factions 2. Use the Giant Repulsors as a superweapon against the any other factions outside the Corellia system (it would be impossible anyway as seen here Repulsorlift tech is limited to any around six planetary diameters.) Posts: 656 (06/19/09 17:47:53) Grand Vizier Narcissistic Battle Mod Reply Quote More My Recent Posts Message Me Connection Blocking Invite Ignore User's Posts	There has been at least two campaigns to do with centerpoint station that I know of (I took part in one), and in both centerpoint was destroyed/taken offline. In fact the last camp had it being patch up in the extreme to have it barely working by the best Corellian and imperial mechanics, only top be gutted afterwards. Yes The last camp had it so that with apart from the colony inside it centerpoint should no longer be working, and this could be seen by all parties generally getting a heap load of RU as we took apart the insides so that it could never be used again. So as well as its super weapon capability, the interdiction field and "giant repulsors" were all really the same thing, so its all gone, plus no one would have been crazy to leave them aboard after last time with SalSolo showing why. The station has been used so many times that it is more of a joke in my view, a joke that only the Death Star can match in term off coming back from the dead to threaten the galaxy or some faction or another. The last camp was made so that it could finally been written out of SL for that very purpose. It would be impossible to have centerpoint now other than some colossal floating metallic husk with that town inside it, as all the bits that made it do all its special abilities are gone and no one in this galaxy should have even the remotest clue or tech level to start from scratch which is what should happen. If you know that older players had raised this issue you should have really checked on this without bounding forward for sheer RP sake, There are plenty more avenues for RP out there in Star Wars Cannon, rather than this same feature which has been through the copier far too many times. Let the station remain dead and the RP's that contained it count for something, other what's the point of ever joining a thread to stop it, if only a year or so later it's gets turned back on again. I would see that as an affront to my RP and my effort. There are only my views, but still I feel quite strong on the issue... Sithlore: Star Wars Roleplaying

I know the fleets were hitting it with everything they had. Strifey was onboard and did something. I could swear it went boom, but I always imagine it did. Maybe he just turned it off and the fleets beat it up some. I don't see the Empire leaving a functional Centerpoint in rebel space... I know I wouldn't and I was there. Then no matter what, your screwed. But yeah, Correllia is a GW planet. Didn't matter with the campaign but... Blunt time, I'm sick of superweapons. I'm sick of really big battlestations that you don't want to use as a superweapon but it is. I can stomach the Empire building their 400th superweapon since I know it will go boom. On the light side, I don't see any faction wanting a superweapon since they are nothing but death dealers. Say what you want about Centerpoint, it's a superweapon. Also beyond teh GW thing. SL has VERY strict guidelines on crafting Superweapons. You'd need to talk to the staff about it. See what you plan to do with it. How much they will nerf it. So forth.

The gubbins were stripped after the last campaign, and thus it's properties as shown in the books have been destroyed. This was done on purpose precisely because it's far too tempting an object to leave sitting around waiting for someone with a bright idea to come along and use it as a superweapon. Sorry! But then again there is the whole giant Repulor element. I'm not beating a dead horse I swear! The Repulsors were buried on the individual planets and not part of the Station. And trust me I am listening to you Izzy and Zechs I know it is a GW planet(s) issue but still am interested in feed back. Oh and keep in mind as I mentioned before these devices cannot, I repeat CANNOT, be used as a planet destroying weapon, and would only be effective within the Corellia System. But as you can see from above I see your views and respect them Centerpoint is completely and utterly dead to me and hopefully any other new member who stumbles across this discussion. On another note I was hoping to use the proposal thread as a IC discussion with my fellow Rebs on the direction we want for our faction, brainstorming ideas whatever they may be and deciding what plans work and what plans don't. Its the ability to do something that is not conventional that is the problem. For example, if you do set this up, I will inform Laz that I wish for him to take Corellia at all costs. Why you say? Because this RP element will mean little before the GW system and thus our fleet is all that matters. But once we get Corellia in the GW, I am, with Laz's permission of course, free to deal with this technology in any means I deem fit. You thus give my character, a man of no moral constraint and a perfect willingness to commit genocide, a technological tool that, while not reproducable, perfectly movable with an industrial might of a Galactic Empire. Now you have a man with the intent of committing mass genocide with a weapon that has the ability to do so. This, my idealistic friend, is a grave concern for me, Laz as well as everyone else who knows that superweapons are a bad idea, regardless of intent. If it exists, it can be misused, and not by the bastard who set it up in the first place. Also, these repulsors were known since the first centerpoint issue I believe. It would have been part of the looted material. So, cut your losses, halt nagging us about it and get back to work. You got enough as it is to deal with on your hands, be of some use to the Rebellion and see what Eryk needs other than Superweapons of Mass Destruction. The Rebels have far more to deal with right now than worry about some superweapon. Especially since it seems all forward motion has once again stopped. Makes it hard for someone like me who has the urge to make a darker character to do it when the light side can't ever get it's bloody act together. Seriously, who wouldn't want to work for Laz? I mean, Laz is almost as constant as Jay. So you are either a pirate or Imperial. I know. I know. Itio is here and doing a fine job with the CSA, but pirate inactivity is hurting him somewhat. Plus the CSA is kind of "Leave us alone, we leave you alone." But yes. Put your passion and energy into the faction, dude. Start building the future, not rebuilding the past.
