Yeah. Anyway, some of you might know that since the release of the SLIU we as a board are able to handle much higher levels of participation and membership. This will continue to increase as the SLIU is refined and improved.
So, it's about time we all did a little more to promote ourselves.
what can I do?
1. Firstly, I'm going to ask that everyone includes a link in their signature to www.sithlore.com. PARTICULARLY on any account which you use on another ezboard or message board. If you don't use any other online communities then just your SL account will do. Otherwise as many accounts as you've got would be great.
Here's the ezcode for including a link in your sig. Log in to "my control center", "account settings" and then underneath your existing sig post. Because ezboard are morons the code tag doesn't seem to include ezcode, so instead I've asterisked every tag. Remove the asterisks:

great. Why should I?
Because DUH! People will follow the link! The more hits we get on our homepage the more likely we are to get members. Furthermore having lots of links floating around, especially links from popular sites and communities increases our search engine rankings.
Is it compulsory?
Well, I can't force people to do it, especially not on accounts other than the ones they use here, but I'm going to say yes, it's expected of you as a member of this community to try and help out in this very simple way.
What else can I do?
2. Advertise! Now, we all know ezboard doesn't like spammers. Therefore in order to advertise it would be a very good idea to ONLY advertise in sites which advertise themselves. That way they have no reason to complain.
In other words, ONLY find sites to advertise in by following links in other boards advertising forums and affiliate lists.
ALWAYS ENSURE that you are advertising in the specified advertising forum. If a board doesn't have a specified advertising forum I'd suggest you don't advertise there.
Furthermore DON'T use the same topic title repeatedly with each advert otherwise you'll twig the ezboard spam filter. Vary the title of your post with each board you use.

Do I have to use it?
No! For a start I can't paste the code directly, so you're going to have to format it yourself while posting (although if anyone can't be bothered email me and I'll send you a .txt file of it.
Secondly, you don't just have to advertise for the board! Why not advertise specifically for your faction? Faction leaders: why not get a few of your members to conduct advertising initiatives? Although do ask them to be careful not to advertise in boards which already have a Sithlore advert on the first page. Do refer them to the above guides to advertising. We don't want anyone to get in trouble with ezboard.

3. Not by a long shot! Get your friends to join! Join from other boards, from IRL, IM contacts, anyone you think might be interested. Think outside the box if you can, and do feel free to let me know of any good ideas you might have.

Especially characters that have been here a while and the staff. Makes it nicer when you get a few posting so it doesn't seem like its totally just an ad.
